Automatic Transfer switches is a premium choice in providing control of power during an unwanted power outage, although the cost can be 15 times more expensive, many people still decide to invest into a long lasting work horse of the stand alone pad mounted generator. The automatic transfer switch is a much more convenient method of regaining power through its steady monitoring of the normally used utility power grid, automatically starting when the presence of the utility power is lost, the generator quickly starts regaining power to your critical circuits even if your not home. The automation process of this transfer switch is brought on by the control board recognizing that the homes utility power has dropped off line, which in turn communicates the next sequence of allowing the charged battery to start the engine, the engine which commonly uses natural gas to operate will maintain its operation until the utility power is restored, during the power outage the transfer switch changes its mechanical configuration by disengaging the previously fed utility connection to the generators power source. The pad mounted generator is designed to safely produce much larger service loads typically being 26000 watts ( 108A at 240v ) which can easily maintain many predetermined critical circuits within the residence at any given time. Critical circuits are determined through the selected home systems one may consider important, typically an additional sub panel is used removing these circuit breakers from the metered main panel, allowing for complete isolation between utility and generated power, being that only one source at a time should ever supply power to the designated circuits.
